What I would mention is seeing some advice not to get a mac with the computer built into the screen, as if anything goes, it all goes if you see what I mean. I can't help you with Mac's at all I'm afraid, I started with Windows and I'm not changing now! What would you do or have you done when it was "time"? ![]() I have a laptop now.so I'm feeling a loss if I go desktop/imac.but the bigger monitor would be lovely.also, I don't trust having expensive equipment in my house here so like being able to bring it with me.Īnd how about the fact that I then can't migrate my existing libraries.is that right? Has anyone done the switch pc to mac? NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 1GB video memory (can I use the acer monitor I have for now until I upgrade to a bigger monitor/ what connection are needed to get the cable to attach (vga cable, yes?) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M with 2GB video memory I will also start hunting for a second hand one. would you buy imac or macbook pro?īudget.thinking around 1500.maybe up to 2000. Would one of these be a good choice? It is a bit more than I was thinking I need to spend. Michelle Green Gate Photography edited this topic ages ago. I remember I can't add more RAM to this old clunker unfortunately.what would you go for assuming a moderate budget? Thinking I'll go for a mac.but much RAM? OR if PC- how much RAM? Thanks Cletus and Cactus! My external drive is H.the 1 TB one.and that has plenty of room (on H 416 GB used 2.32 TB free). Some operations are much faster and all my pictures are back on one internal drive instead of the mix of internal/external that I used to have. +1 for a 64bit OS and more memory - I have recently upgraded from Lightroom 4 on Windows vista (2GB ram) to Lightroom 5 on Windows 8.1 (12GB). Your resolution is going to be to upgrade to a 64bit OS (Win 7 or 8) and add more RAM This creates bottle necks problems ensue.Īlso I do not know if I am remembering this correctly but I believe that LR limited the amount of RAM it will consume to 1GB on a 32bit Windows system If you use up 1GB of RAM trying to export lots of images and you will get the OUT OF Memory message With only 4GB RAM, you will always have problems trying to export large numbers of larger image files When you run our of RAM Windows starts to swap things out to the SWAPFILE C:\PageFile.sys. There should be a folder called TEMP By default is it stored on C:\ but the location varies depending upon your version of Windows (I think it is in C:\Windows now) Is the External HD labeled D:\? "7.12 used 11.1 free" This is not 1TB but 18GB(?) This is the part that does not make sense. Sorry, How do I find my temp working storage? Update.doing export in two parts (but not simultaneous) worked! No out of memory error this time. I need to go for 6 gb or 8 gb next, yes? I've been trying to delay for a while.! Think I looked into it before and can't put in more ram into it My external drive (where the photos are stored) is 1 TB What is the name and path to your master catalog? Is it on C:\ or D:\? ![]() Is your primary drive only ~130GB? Is it an SSD? Where is your TEMP (working storage)? Is it on C:\? c: (programs here) 71.3 used 59.4 freeĭ: (files here) 7.12 used 11.1 freeThese numbers don't make much sense and they don't have units associated. How much RAM do you have? LR also make extensive use of TEMP storage for creating intermediate staging files before creating the final export. Not enough memory can mean not enough RAM. What a pain! If I have to do it that way.that is too clunky/ takes to much time and brainpower to remember where I left off! Now I am "waiting" until batch one finishes to send batch 2. I broke them up into about 20-25 each when exporting (4 separate exports).but then still got the error (I had sent them as separate exports all at once.) ![]() I tried looking at the space on my hard drive ![]() Does anyone have a solution for the "not enough memory" on export error in LR5?
